It is a widely known fact that people, in general, in our country, have plenty of stuff. Though unemployment is high and there are hungry children in our world, when it comes to knickknacks and plastic toys the majority of families have more than enough. All these collected items of perceived worth tend to serve as a ball and chain rather than a source of joy and pleasure. A few years ago, I realized I didn’t want to be giving gifts that people just stuck on their shelf anymore. I decided to start using gift ideas that would truly make someone happy instead of stressing them out.
The simplest way to go beyond possessions when it comes to gift giving is to present activities and events instead. Some of the very best gifts I have received in my life have been concert tickets, massage certificates and beach villa rentals. Think outside of the “material possession” box to share your affection in a more genuine and powerful way. Consider this instead: buy fresh flowers for your friend on their birthday rather than picking out a piece of clothing you think they may not need.

Million Dollar Dreams

Do you ever dream about what would happen if you won the lottery? That’s plenty of inspiration for such daydreams online and in the news. Whenever I see a sweepstakes winner video, I become lost in my own ideas about what I would personally do if I suddenly had all that money. Imagine!
The first thing I would do is quit my job. It’s ok for a job, but I could use some free time. It would be amazing to know that I could spend each and every day doing exactly what I want to do and not have to worry about finances. I have never had that freedom before!
I have never before and most people never will have the chance to leave free of financial bounds. The basics of life cost much more than the average job pays. Student loans are massive burden on a huge proportion of the population. These burdens can even pass from generation to generation. They freeze people where they are and prevent them from achieving their dreams.
So after I quit my job, I would take some time to straighten out my life. Some people just dream about the tropical vacations they could take if they won the lottery, but I know it would take quite a while before I could really settle down to anything so luxurious. So much would change!
I drag my boyfriend into this daydream all the time. He is an accountant and no doubt has plenty of ideas about what to do with all the money if I win. He wants to put it in trusts and stocks or real estate so it can continue to support us, too. That’s all well and good, but it’s not the stuff I like to dream of.
Once my affairs are sorted out, I would start traveling the world. I could live anywhere in the world but I need to see what it has to offer before I decide.
Having millions of dollars would finally make it possible to explore the world. Once I’ve seen plenty, I can start thinking about where I would like to have my home base. Or, of course, I could more than one house! How lovely would it be to have a place in France and a place in LA?
To make all this a reality, all I need is to win a big sweepstakes. I’m no sucker and I play my bets carefully. Someday soon, my lottery planning and daydreaming will finally pay off.
